Krell

American high-end power amplifier icon.

The maker

Krell has been the American icon of the power amplifier since 1980 — force, control, a character that leads loudspeakers instead of following them. The KSA-100 was the first audiophile high-current Class A stereo; each iteration opened the dynamic range further.

Patented current, linearity, a sound that recalls a live event, including the human voice. In the studio Krell stands where Wilson and Perlisten ask for current and calm at once — often as the K-300i, often as KSA-i400 with Illusion II.
